The Worcester Cinema Through The Ages cinema heritage project is all about telling stories, tales about the buildings, people who run them and the audience that frequented them. Here is a recording, taken by Lisa and it’s a great example of what we are hoping to capture and then document online.
The cinema mentioned in this recording is the Danilo Cinema in Longbridge, Birmingham. It opened in 1938 and had an art deco interior with 1550 seats. It was taken over in 1954 by the Essoldo chain, finally closing in 1968. It has been since converted to a fitness centre.
